Tai Kehu
A Celebration of Pacific Surfing and Cultural Connection
Quiksilver is proud to unveil the latest evolution of the Tai Kehu Collection, a signature collection that continues to bridge surfing’s modern expression with its deep ancestral roots.
In partnership with Kehu Butler and Tā Moko artists Maia Gibbs and Henare Brooking, this marks the third chapter in a creative journey that has consistently celebrated the ocean’s cultural significance and this time, the focus is firmly set on the Pacific, where surfing’s story first began.
Each Tai Kehu collection has been anchored by the ocean, but this release goes deeper, drawing on the traditions, histories, and rhythms of Pacific surf culture. Patterns shift and evolve yet remain grounded in their origins, a reflection of how surfing itself has transformed over generations while staying true to its essence. That philosophy runs through every element of the new range, from its graphic storytelling to the textures and details woven into the garments.
To bring the concept to life, Quiksilver took Butler, Gibbs, and Brooking on a journey to the heart of the Pacific. A trip built around chasing waves, strengthening bonds, and celebrating the powerful connection between culture, ocean, and community. It was a chance not only to surf but to reflect on how far the sport has come, and how the past continues to shape the present.
That duality is embodied in Butler’s quiver from the trip: an Alaia board, representing the sport’s earliest roots; a classic single fin, symbolising surfing’s timeless soul; and a modern Sharpeye quad, capturing its progressive future. Just like the boards, the collection honours what has come before while embracing what’s still ahead.
“The Tai Kehu Collection has always been about more than just products, it’s about connection,” says Butler. “To our ancestors, to the ocean, and to each other. This collection is a celebration of that.” The Tai Kehu Collection will be available on the 25th of October at select retailers and quiksilver.com.au
